General information on all living on an acre.

Planting

It is about time to think about planting... I know it is almost March and i am talking about starting seeds. You have to know that a good timeframe to start seeds indoors is about 4-8 weeks before you'll be able to transplant them in the garden. You will be transplanting your seedlings into the garden after the danger of frost has passed, I know that it is difficult to think of as we live in NY and well for me it is raining outside... But you can get good sales now. I use gurneys, they have some great deals now where you can save about 50%... I will like their page if anyone wants to look

Buying Birds

It is about time to also start about thinking about purchasing your flock. Although it seems early you need to start thinking about this. When you purchase your flock, if it is still cold(below 50) you will need to keep them in a brooder. It is easy to get a small kiddie pool and a heat light to keep them warm. You can choose what you want to purchase. You can get either a straight run, which normally is about 60% roosters and 40% hens or if you want to pay a bit more you can order just females. Take a look at the website that I use
